Note on Awards Offered by the FRIE Library and Information Science Society – 2025

The Foundation for Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (FRIE) Library and Information Science Society is pleased to announce the institution of Awards for the year 2025 to recognize excellence, dedication, and innovation in the library and information science profession. These awards will honor professionals who have made significant contributions across diverse categories of librarianship.

Proposed Award Categories

General Categories

  1. Lifetime Achievement – for distinguished service and outstanding contribution to the library profession.
  2. Best Academic Librarian – for excellence in overall academic library management and services.
  3. Best Public Librarian – for outstanding initiatives in public libraries for community development.
  4. Best Special/Research Librarian – for remarkable achievements in special or research libraries.
  5. Young Librarian – for promising professionals below 40 years of age showing innovation and leadership.
  6. Innovative Library Services – for pioneering practices, use of technology, and innovative services.
  7. Best LIS Researcher – for notable contributions in research, publications, and scholarly impact.
  8. Best LIS Teacher – to honor excellence in classroom teaching, student mentoring, and curriculum innovation in LIS education.

Nominations and Jury
Nominations for the awards will open on 1 May 2026 and close on 25 May 2026. Eligible professionals are invited to submit their nominations within this period. The evaluation process will be carried out by a distinguished jury comprising five eminent professors in the related fields of library and information science. The assessment will be based on professional achievements, innovative practices, leadership, and contributions to the advancement of knowledge and society through library and information services.

The award presentation ceremony will be held in June 2026, in a special function organized by the FRIE Library and Information Science Society.
Through these awards, FRIE seeks to recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions in the field, thereby inspiring library professionals to continue their pursuit of excellence, innovation, and service to society.
